Ezines

Ezines are electronic newsletters or magazines sent by e-mail to a list of people who have chosen to subscribe to them. They are an extremely popular internet marketing technique. Some ezines are little more than a paragraph in length. Others have heaps of content. Ezine was the popular word for a newsletter a few years ago, but now the term newsletter is coming back into vogue.

Get people to subscribe to your own ezine by offering them something for free. This is a great way of building a mailing list. Let them opt-out at any time, and never handout your list. But your ezine must deliver some ongoing benefit, and not be a constant sales pitch, or else people unsubscribe.

Advertise in other people's ezines. The bigger the circulation, and the more targetted, the better your results (although usually dearer). You may buy an ad in someone else's ezine, or they may agree to swap ads with you. This is a common "joint venture" technique.

The benefit of ezine marketing is that you can develop an ongoing relationship with your readers. The goal is to develop their trust in you as a source of information in your particular area of expertise.

The top ezine resource would be the Directory of Ezines, although it is not free.

Other ezine directories include Email Universe and
NewsLetterAccess and Promote Free, which has a page listing ezine submission sites.

A good ezine should have lots of content. You may wish to pay others to write content for you, or grab some from article directories, such as:
Idea Marketers
Ezine Articles
Go Articles
Amazines

There are many ezines that will publish your ad if you subscribe to them. Subscribeme.net has gathered many of them together into a system where you may submit your ad every three months. You should have a dedicated email address for this program.

If you send out your ezine via email, be aware many ISPs may filter it. Check your content for trigger words at EzineCheck and also at SpamCheck
